Fifty years ago, 580 young men and women walked across the stage at Gary Roosevelt High School, carrying with them the hopes and dreams of a city and a country. They were the Mighty Panthers of the Class of 1976 -- the bicentennial class celebrating the 200th anniversary of America.
As graduates of Gary Roosevelt High School, they are alumni of an institution that holds a cherished place in history, having educated generations of leaders who have made a lasting impact in various fields. A 50th year class reunion is quite outstanding! That is why we are going to one of the most outstanding cities in America -- the City of Chicago. Famed for its bold architecture, museums, vibrant music scene, and high profile restaurants.
On Saturday, we will be dining and celebrating at the prestigious Obama Presidental Center. . The Gary Roosevelt Class of 1976 will have the distinguished honor to be one of the first groups to celebrate in this historic space. It will be an extraordinary gala evening! Sunday will be a relaxing morning brunch at the Hyatt where friends can break bread before leaving.
